Terms and Conditions and Policies.
Welcome to Art Hugs! We are delighted to have your child join us in this safe and creative space where they can thrive and express themselves. To ensure the best experience for all students, we have established a few ground rules.
SAFE: Students must demonstrate safe behaviour with tools, materials and their bodies. This includes:
- Behaving in an orderly fashion
- Using appropriate language and body language (i.e., keeping hands to self, sitting in chair safely)
- Using art room tools and supplies correctly and respectfully.
- Respecting boundaries and personal space of other students and staff members
- Usage of advanced equipment (ie, sewing machines, hot glue gun, scalpels, and sharp instruments) will be supervised
CARING: Students must be kind and considerate of one another. This involves:
- ONLY using positive language when discussing others' artwork and personalities.
- Recognising that everyone is unique and has different ideas and embracing these differences.
- Being supportive and encouraging to classmates.
- Warnings will be issued if behaviour does not reflect our guidelines, on the third warning the student will no longer be welcome in the class and no refund will be issued
ACCEPTING: Students must accept each other's artistic and personal differences. This means:
- Respecting others' creative choices and expressions.
- ONLY saying positive things about others' artwork.
- Valuing everyone's input and contributions.
RESPECTFUL: Students must show respect towards the teacher, each other, and the art room materials. This encompasses:
- Listening attentively when the teacher is speaking or giving directions.
- Using appropriate volume when talking or moving around the classroom.
- Staying out of others' personal space.
- Showing respect to the teacher's instructions and both the teachers and others boundaries.
- Remaining in control of your own body and it’s actions.
- Following teacher's instruction about restricted areas
SKILLS: At Art Hugs students learn art and mindful skills, focusing on self-awareness and creativity. Making Art Hugs a community and safe space to be themselves. Art Hugs is not an occupational therapy service and therefore doesn't focus on specific fine motor skills, though we do incorporate a variety of task that assist motor development.
PRE-CLASS PREPARATION: If your child is upset prior to attending class, please ensure they are settled before entering the classroom. If you child is unable to be settled during class we will contact you to come and calm them, and then remain in the reception area, or collect them. We encourage your child/ren to use the bathroom before class and have any snacks prior or after class to maximise learning time. No food or drinks are accepted into the art room with the exception of drink bottles.
STAFF QUALIFICATIONS: All staff hold working with children blue cards. Both Hannah and Emily hold a yellow disability workers screening card.
FOOD AND DRINK: NO FOOD OR DRINKS are allowed in the art hugs space due to allergies, except those required for medical purposes (eg diabetes). Drink bottles with water only are allowed for rehydration.
PERSONAL HYGIENE: Children attending Art Hugs must be toilet trained and capable of using the bathroom independently. Please ensure your child uses the toilet before class.
ILLNESS: To avoid potential spread of contagious outbreaks, your child must stay home when ill. Children can return to class when symptoms have gone. Please contact us if it is a special circumstance or allergy-based illness. Children who have vomiting or gastro bugs, can’t come to class for 48 hrs after last bout. We encourage you if you are unwell for a long period of time to wear a mask to avoid the potential spread of illnesses.
PREPARATION: Children must wear appropriate clothing that can get dirty for art lessons. Your child must wear the provided art aprons. This helps create a comfortable and healthy learning environment for everyone. Wash up areas are provided and wet artwork will remain in studio to dry, to be collected the following lesson.
CONTACT INFORMATION: PARENTS MUST BE ACCESSIBLE BY PHONE WHILE CHILDREN ATTEND ART LESSONS. It is essential that all guardians/parents provide Art Hugs with an updated mobile phone information and information essential to their learning experience (e.g., learning disabilities, past behavioural issues or relevant issues in the child's school experience). This will ensure that your child/ren has a positive experience and staff have knowledge to provide the best care for your child/ren. Parents may be required to return to Art Hugs if contacted.
FEE PAYMENT: Payment for classes is due in full for the term by the conclusion of week 6 of the school term, otherwise a late fee of $30 per month until paid. CHILDREN WILL BE UNABLE TO ATTEND CLASS UNTIL A CLEARED PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED. We do not offer refunds for missed class, however, we do provide the opportunity for make-up classes if your child is unwell or due to severe weather conditions during the art term. Should you not attend a make-up class during the term block that make-up will be forfeited. We encourage from our website prior to committing to a term block to ensure it is a good fit for both the child, class, and teaching staff. From then term invoice can issues on request. A 1.8% fee for Square purchases in-studio and Stripe for trial classes will now be incurred.
We are register for GST and this charge will be additional to the price of our services.
NDIS: ART HUGS IS NOT AN NDIS PROVIDER. Invoices will be sent to parents/caregivers and it is up to you speak to your NDIS plan manager or follow up with NDIS to see if you are eligible to use the funding. PAYMENT FOR THE TERM WILL HAVE TO BE RECEIVED FROM NDIS PRIOR TO ATTENDANCE AT THE FIRST CLASS OR CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND.
CLASS/PRIVATE SESSIONS ATTENDANCE: There is a great deal of preparation that goes into each lesson. Please let us know if your child will not be attending. We understand that situations arise, but please let us know ASAP if you cannot attend. If you have a private class please notify us at least 24 hours in advance or a cancellation fee of the session will be charged.
Please drop and collect your child as per the stipulated class time, as we have sessions that run before and after. No make-up class will given for a child arriving late.
